Some Easy Ways to Cut Calories

There’s a lot of debate about diet plans.  What works, what doesn’t work, what foods are best for you, what foods are bad for you…you can ask 10 different people the best way to lose weight and you’ll get 10 different answers.

I’ve come to think that we make it much harder than it needs to be.  I’m not saying it’s easy, mind you, just that it needn’t be as hard as we make it.

One of the easiest things we can do to lose weight is to watch our caloric intake.

Now, let me clear that I believe what kind of calories we are eating is just as important as how many calories we’re eating.  My point is that people are taking in a lot of calories without even realizing it.  And if we can find 500 calories that we can trim out of our day, that’s a pound of weight lost in a week.

Here are some easy things you can do to cut some of those calories:

  • Don’t eat until you’re full; eat until you’re not hungry.  There’s a subtle – but big – difference.
  • Switch from 2% to skim milk.
  • If you eat out, ask that a doggie bag be brought to you when your meal is brought.  Before taking a bite, put 1/3 of your food into the doggie bag.  Eat if for lunch tomorrow!
  • If you use mayonnaise on your sandwich, switch to mustard instead.
  • Make your lunch at home and take it to work with you.
  • Try to avoid juice, but if you HAVE to have a glass, make it half water-half juice.
  • Drink a big glass of water about 30 minutes before a meal.

These are just a few suggestions to get you thinking on the right direction.  There’s a LOT of ways you can trim calories out.  You just have to find them.

If you’re not keeping a food journal, start right away.  This is the number 1 best way to find the calories you can do with out.

That is the biggest problem. Conquer it and the rest falls into place. Unless you want awesome abs, then that is hard work.

Yes this is a BIGGIE I have been doing this and even though I was brought up to always clean my plate I now don’t feel bad leaving food and if there is a lot of food there is always a doggie bag and another meal
